Job description

Winning Form has an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Financial Accountant based in Umhlanga, Durban. This role involves managing the company's financial reporting and performance to ensure accuracy, compliance, and strategic alignment. Responsibilities include supervising finance staff (Creditors, Debtors, Payroll, etc.), preparing budgets, maintaining financial controls, and delivering timely reports. The position also covers tax compliance, audit support (internal, external, SARS, BEE), enforcing internal controls, and adhering to group policies. The Senior Financial Accountant will support the Group Financial Manager, lead special projects, and manage team performance.

Minimum Requirements
  • +2 Years of commercial experience.
  • Proficiency in Pastel Evolution (or similar software).
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
Advantageous
  • Completion of SAICA Accredited Articles.
  • A relevant Degree/Diploma.
Responsibilities

Financial Metrics

  1. Preparation of annual budgets.
  2. Preparation and review of monthly management accounts with analysis and commentary.
  3. Preparation and review of annual financial statements.
  4. Preparation and review of monthly working paper files and high-risk reconciliations.
  5. Processing routine transactions promptly by junior staff.
  6. Handling non-routine and complex transactions such as depreciation, impairments, provisions, etc.
  7. Review and approval of payments, ensuring IFRS and tax compliance.
  8. Review of tax computations and timely provisional tax payments.
  9. Review of VAT and Payroll returns monthly.
  10. Settlement of inter-company accounts and loans in line with payment terms.
  11. Reconciliation of inter-company balances monthly.
  12. Collection of loans and trade debts.
  13. Management of working capital and cash flow planning.
  14. Identification and implementation of internal controls.
  15. Addressing audit findings and impairments provisioning.
  16. Reassessment of asset useful lives and depreciation quarterly.
  17. Review of asset disposals and general ledger transactions.
  18. Stock takes and variance reviews.
  19. Review and approval of stock listings and petty cash expenses.
  20. Reconciliation of loans and facility accounts.
  21. Approval of accruals based on trend analysis.
  22. Processing of recurring payments and managing operating costs.
  23. Quarterly compliance audits on supplier and customer rebates and discounts.
  24. Maintaining organized financial records for audits and investigations.
  25. Supporting BEE initiatives to improve company score.
  26. Optimizing financial position and performance.
  27. Collaborating with departments and external auditors.
  28. Minimizing audit overruns through diligent preparation.
  29. Supporting senior management with projects, reports, and financial models.
  30. Creating and maintaining templates and models for decision-making.
  31. Performing other ad hoc tasks as needed.
