A leading company is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to manage creditor accounts and ensure compliance with VAT and withholding tax regulations. The role includes preparing financial summaries for Lesotho and assisting with annual budgets and audits. Ideal candidates will have a BCom in Accounting and substantial experience in financial reporting and compliance.
As the Senior Financial Accountant your primary responsibilities will be :
1) Maintaining accurate and complete general ledger accounts.
2) Maintaining accurate creditor accounts and ensuring timeous payments thereof.
3) VAT and Withholding Tax compliance.
Responsibilities :
1) Monthly Creditors for Lesotho :
a) Management of creditors system (ensuring all creditors processed accurately and paid timeously).
b) Ensuring VAT compliance of supplier invoices.
c) Supervision of creditor clerk & Accountant in country.
2) Monthly withholding taxes for Lesotho :
a) Preparation and submission of statutory payments and returns.
3) Monthly VAT, deferred VAT and Alcohol levy for Lesotho :
a) Monthly reconciliation of VAT / Alcohol levy.
b) Preparation and submission of statutory payments and returns.
4) Monthly GL reconciliation files for Lesotho :
a) Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts (every month is a year-end). Also includes review of accounts done by Accountant in country.
b) Bank reconciliations. - FNB Lesotho (rest of accounts prepared by Accountant in country).
c) Review of income statement against budget, investigation of variances and accruals.
d) Invoicing and processing of A&P Claims and recoveries from Suppliers.
e) Maintain accurate A&P spend summaries per Principal suppliers.
f) Cash Van Management.
5) Assist with Monthly management accounts and prepare monthly financial summaries and comments for countries.
6) Other Annual / Adhoc responsibilities :
a) Setting up of annual budgets.
b) Assisting with tax provisional and annual tax computations.
c) Assisting with other annual statutory submissions e.g. Annual PAYE / WHT reconciliations.
d) Ad hoc internal auditing.
e) Assist annual external auditors with information requests.
f) Other compliance / maintenance e.g. KYC's.
7) Any other tasks required that is not listed above and which would be considered to be reasonable in relation to your position in the company, the performance of your responsibilities and / or the best interests of the company.
