Qualifications

• 5-8 years in conducting impact assessments within the mining industry.

• Valid passport and driver's license; willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Effectively project manage Basic Assessments and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs).
• Collaborate with specialists and liaise with clients and authorities.
• Compile and write reports for submission to clients and authorities.

Job description

A medium sized Consulting company with international offices is looking to hire a Senior Environmental Scientist.

Minimum requirements :

• A degree in Environmental Science / Management
• A Project Management certification would be advantageous.
• 5-8 years in conducting impact assessments specifically within the mining industry.
• 5-8 years in environmental legal auditing (NEMA, NEMWA, National Water Act and MPRDA)
• Knowledge of Applicable Environmental and Mining legislation.
• Knowledge of IFC and World bank principles would be preferable.
• Must be in possession of a valid passport and drivers’ license.
• Willing to travel throughout Africa and elsewhere, as the need arises.

Your responsibilities will include :

• Effectively project manage and administrate the following :

o Basic Assessments and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) according to the new EIA legislation (2010)

o EIA and EMP report writing.

o Mining Applications

• Working in close collaboration with specialists from other disciplines.
• Liaising with clients and authorities
• Compile and write reports for submission to the client and necessary authorities.
• Carry out legal audits with regards to relevant legislation.
