Senior Engineer : Electrical

PURPOSE OF ROLE
The Senior Engineer: Electrical will provide specialist support and expertise to the electrical engineering team throughout all project lifecycle phases (Engineering / Procurement / Construction).

This role is responsible for delivering projects, ensuring compliance with applicable design codes and standards, and overseeing the electrical engineering team's work.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

1. Electrical Tenders and Designs
2. Reviewing clients' requirements in Works Information / User Requirements Specification / Technical Requirement Specification documents to determine project scope for electrical.
3. Participating in concept design development.
4. Doing site investigations and research on system designs for brownfields project, as part of process for obtaining input information.
5. Doing electrical studies – cable sizing, voltage drop calculations, short circuit calculations, load flow studies, piling safety screenings, safety evaluations, safety justifications as part of the assessment on nuclear safety for electrical designs.
6. Compiling technical specifications for the procurement of equipment and services.
7. Compilation of Bill of Quantities (BOQs) and applying equipment classifications (safety / seismic / quality / environment / importance class / RD-).
8. Providing inputs for project cost estimations.
9. Compilation of tender proposal documents.
10. Assisting with commercial proposals for tender proposals, as needed.
11. Providing input for schedule development.
12. Ensuring all plant documentation associated with the project are updated as part of the design.
13. Compiling detailed designs for projects.
14. Managing the interfaces with other disciplines.
15. Compiling safety cases for installation as an input to the installation documentation for projects.
16. Assistance during the fabrication phase of all projects.
17. Participating in testing and commissioning.
18. Signing off on Electrical CoCs.
19. Ensuring compliance to company and project technical and QA requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. BSc Eng or B. Eng in Electrical Engineering.
2. Registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer.
3. Minimum 10 years relevant multi-disciplinary project design experience in Nuclear, preferably on PWR facilities.
4. Authorised Safety Evaluator in terms of 10 CFR 50.59, or equivalent.
5. Completed the Nuclear Engineering Course as presented at Koeberg, or equivalent.

Skills:

1. Good technical report writing skills.
2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
3. Capable of doing electrical calculations, with ETAP experience very beneficial.
4. Problem-solving ability.
5. Good communication skills.
6. Good planning, organizing, administration and time management skills.
