Qualifications

Job description

AECOM is seeking an Air Quality Engineer with expertise in odor control, industrial ventilation, and air pollution, based out of our South African offices.

Note: This is a design-focused role.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  1. Understanding of various processes in the industrial, municipal, and chemical sectors.
  2. Knowledge of odour control and air pollution control systems and concepts.
  3. Process calculations and equipment sizing.
  4. Preparation of technical documentation and reports.
  5. Collaboration with internal project teams and external clients.
  6. Applying scientific principles and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems within a limited scope.
  7. Data collection and application of technical principles and theories.
  8. Participation in project and client meetings.
  9. Quality assurance and quality control of drawings and technical documents.
  10. Data interpretation, analysis, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  11. Fieldwork including installation, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning of air monitoring equipment.
  12. Field measurements of airflow, pressure, and temperature.
  13. Coordination with equipment suppliers and laboratories.
Qualifications:
  • BSc / BEng in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • At least 8 years of project management, proposal writing, contract administration, business development, fieldwork, and client liaison, or equivalent experience/education.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10 years of design experience in air quality improvement projects, proposal writing, fieldwork, and client liaison.
  • Professional Engineering Designation with ECSA.
  • Leadership qualities to develop and empower a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication skills, including report writing and presentations.
  • Knowledge of environmental air quality regulations and permitting processes.
  • Additional skills in pollution control system design, industrial ventilation, environmental impact assessments, or odour control strategies are assets.
