Placements24, a game development studio in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, seeks a Senior Game Programmer (Engine) to join the team. You will design, optimize, and maintain the core engine, collaborating with designers, artists, and programmers to deliver high-performance gameplay.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
Minimum 5 years of professional game development, engine programming focus.
Strong C++ and OO design knowledge, engine architecture experience.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and optimize core game engine systems (rendering, physics, AI).
Develop and maintain robust, scalable C++ code.
Collaborate with design, art, QA to implement gameplay features.
Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and memory issues.
Write clear, documented code and participate in code reviews.
Contribute to architectural decisions for future engine development.
Mentor junior programmers and share knowledge.
Stay current with engine tech trends and best practices.
