Placements24 is seeking a Senior Operations Manager to oversee energy facility operations in the Soweto region. You will lead a team of operational staff, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable asset performance in a demanding industrial setting.

The role emphasizes safety, continuous improvement, and strong leadership, with focus on SOP development, performance monitoring, and cross-functional collaboration to optimize downtime and maintain asset integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical), Operations Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in operations management within the energy industry (power generation, O&G, utilities).
• Proven track record in managing operational teams and driving performance improvements.
• Strong understanding of industrial safety regulations and environmental compliance.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision‑making skills.
• Experience with SCADA systems and operational data analysis is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of energy facilities, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Manage operational staff, including scheduling, training, performance evaluation, and development.
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance efficiency and safety.
• Monitor operational performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
• Manage operational budgets, control costs, and ensure efficient resource utilization.
• Liaise with maintenance, engineering, and management teams to ensure seamless operations and asset integrity.
