Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead critical energy infrastructure projects in the Sandton area and beyond. You will provide technical oversight, develop detailed plans, schedules and budgets, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, on-time, within-budget delivery.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering with 8+ years in energy project engineering, plus strong leadership, communication and risk-management

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
• Master's degree or PMP certification advantageous.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in project engineering or management within the energy sector.
• Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale energy infrastructure projects.
• Strong technical knowledge of power systems, renewable energy technologies, or conventional power generation.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in project management software and engineering design tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design, engineering, and execution of energy infrastructure projects, including power generation, transmission, and distribution systems.
• Develop detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and scope of work documentation.
• Manage engineering teams, consultants, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant engineering standards, safety regulations, and environmental policies.
• Conduct technical reviews, risk assessments, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Oversee procurement, construction supervision, commissioning, and handover phases of projects.
• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients and stakeholders.
