Job description

Position: Senior Electrical Sales Engineer

What You'll Do:

  1. Call on decision makers in the marketplace who are in a position to specify or purchase OTC products and services.
  2. Collaborate with rotating equipment engineers and maintenance professionals to solve problems.
  3. Conduct product presentations and demonstrations to increase product knowledge and awareness among current and potential customers.
  4. Establish rapport and participate in joint sales calls with manufacturers OTC represents in the marketplace.
  5. Attend and participate in sales and company meetings as required.
  6. Maintain high knowledge levels of products, processes, and industry trends.
  7. Entertain customers and vendors, including after hours, to strengthen relationships.
  8. Provide start-up service and support when required.
  9. Perform failure analysis of electrical and mechanical equipment and report findings.
  10. Manage equipment performance improvement programs, reporting actions and results in quarterly meetings.
  11. Spend 75% to 100% of time making sales calls in the territory to develop new accounts and maintain relationships with customers.

What You'll Need:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Science, Electrical or Electronics Engineering preferred; rotating equipment experience (2-5 years).
  2. Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and CRM software (Selltis is a plus).
  3. Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
  4. Ability to sell pump equipment with an understanding of mechanics and applications of industrial pumps and systems; self-motivated.
  5. Proactive in prospecting and fieldwork.
  6. Successful professional service sales background.
  7. Strategic thinker with a focus on territorial growth.
  8. Strong presentation and communication skills across platforms.
  9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  10. Problem-solving and analytical skills to address client challenges with technical solutions.
  11. Achieve sales and margin goals for OTC Pumps electrical offerings.
  12. Strong interpersonal skills for building long-term relationships with clients, vendors, and team members.
  13. Coordinate with regional resources to design customer-centric system solutions.
  14. Maintain disciplined activity goals per OTC standards.
  15. Manage market share targets aligned with regional objectives.
  16. Target and grow customer base, penetrate territory.
  17. Master technical sales, territory management, product knowledge, system design, and prospecting skills.
  18. Excellent customer service skills and relationship-building ability.
  19. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
  20. Energetic, outgoing, and friendly demeanor.
  21. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  22. Customer-centric approach (internal and external).
  23. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and CRM/Selltis.
  24. Electrical and mechanical aptitude.
  25. Understanding of rotating equipment, fabrication, and manufacturing practices.
  26. Ability to interpret industry standards and engineering specifications (API and ASME).
  27. Strong understanding of electrical systems, products, and solutions such as power systems, VFD, automation, and controls.
  28. Prior plant experience.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  1. Work in office and industrial settings as required.
  2. Travel via plane and drive up to 2-3 hours at a time, up to 6 hours per day.
  3. Communicate via telephone and electronic devices.
  4. Walk long distances, climb stairs regularly, and climb ladders occasionally at industrial sites.
  5. Work in various climates, including high-temperature environments and outdoors.
  6. Wear proper PPE, including hard hats, safety glasses, and appropriate attire.
