Job description

Our client, a leader in petroleum bi-product processing, seeks to employ a senior Plant Electrician, who has completed a TRADE TEST and WIREMAN’S LICENSE, and background in processing automation and software, instrumentation and equipment with a higher than 24Voltage.

Please note that this role does require travel across SA, as well as to Namibia and Zambia, therefore you must be willing to spend variable periods away from home and be able to work independently on sites.

In addition, experience in rolling out new automation software and plant upgrades is essential.

This role will suit candidates who have a background in the petroleum, chemical or related industry. It is NOT a management role but a hands on senior technician role, with a component of mentoring and developing junior technicians.

POSITION INFO :

• You will have completed an Electrical trade test, as well as a valid Wireman’s License, coupled with 8-10 years experience in process plant maintenance and fault finding on processing machinery / equipment, automation software, instrumentation and redesigning / upgrading of equipment.
• You will have experience in MS Projects and AutoCAD and be able to redesign systems if required.
• Experience in rolling out new automation and industrial software is highly advantageous
• You will be flexible to travel across South Africa, as well as across borders when required to manage maintenance projects or resolve complex electrical problems
• You will have good planning and organisational planning skills, be able to generate technical reports and provide mentorship to junior technicians, often remotely.
• You must have a valid driver’s licence, own car and a clear criminal and credit record
