Job summary

RPO Recruitment is recruiting for a Substation Engineer to join a Johannesburg-based infrastructure team. The role focuses on the design, development, and delivery of high-voltage transmission systems and substations forming the backbone of energy infrastructure.

Requirements include a BSc/BEng/BTech in Electrical Engineering, ECSA registration (PrEng/PrTech) or eligibility, and a minimum of 8 years’ experience.

Qualifications

• BSc, BEng, or BTech in Electrical Engineering.
• Professionally registered with ECSA (PrEng or PrTech), or eligible for registration.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience
• Procurement of electrical plant and equipment for large infrastructure projects.
• Electrical substation design and construction.
• HV and EHV transmission systems.
• Commissioning of substations (advantageous).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and substation design software (CDEGS, ETAP, DIgSILENT).
• Able to think analytically and act with initiative in complex project environments.
• Designing, maintaining, and optimizing high-voltage electrical systems that transport power from generation sources through substations to distribution networks.
