A prominent engineering company seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead solar PV and battery storage project deliveries. The role involves end-to-end engineering design and project management, ensuring compliance with standards and client satisfaction through a proactive and problem-solving approach.
A well-established engineering and energy solutions company is looking to appoint a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the technical delivery of commercial and industrial (C&I) solar PV and battery storage projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end engineering design, implementation support, and project management across a portfolio of installations ranging from under 100kW to over 1MW.
This role requires a strong technical background in solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS), with hands-on experience in both low- and medium-voltage infrastructure. You’ll collaborate with a cross-functional team to ensure project milestones, quality standards, and client expectations are met on time and within budget.
Conduct site visits and technical assessments of LV/HV switchgear rooms and rooftop/greenfield areas.
Lead the design of solar PV and BESS systems using AutoCAD, Helioscope, and other industry-standard software.
Prepare and maintain detailed technical drawings, layout plans, and single-line diagrams.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously from concept through to commissioning.
Ensure designs comply with relevant local and international standards, client specifications, and performance requirements.
Monitor project timelines and budgets, ensuring alignment with contractual deliverables.
Perform quality assurance checks on both design documentation and site execution.
Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and in-house teams, including chairing project meetings and progress reviews.
Engage with commercial and industrial clients throughout the project lifecycle.
Provide technical input and performance insights to the operations and maintenance (O&M) team post-installation.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
ECSA registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) is a strong advantage.
5–10 years of relevant experience, with a focus on solar PV and BESS design, installation, and commissioning.
Solid understanding of LV and MV switchgear, cabling, and protection systems.
Strong drafting skills using AutoCAD.
Proficient in PV design and simulation software (e.g., PVSyst, Helioscope).
Demonstrated ability to manage tender documentation, contracts, and technical deliverables.
Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive, independent approach to project execution.
