Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer specialized in control systems and instrumentation for Polokwane operations. You will design, implement, and support advanced automation and control solutions for complex industrial processes, ensuring seamless integration of electrical systems, instrumentation, and software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 7+ years in electrical engineering with industrial control focus.
• Experience with PLC programming and HMI/SCADA development.
• Familiarity with Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet/IP protocols.
• Pr. Eng. or Pr.Eng. Tech. designation valued.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and specification of electrical control systems, including PLCs, DCS, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
• Develop detailed electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams using CAD software.
• Specify and select appropriate instrumentation for process control applications (e.g., pressure, temperature, flow, level sensors).
• Oversee the installation, commissioning, and calibration of control systems and instrumentation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to electrical systems, control logic, and instrumentation performance.
• Collaborate with process engineers, mechanical engineers, and project managers to ensure integrated design solutions.
• Ensure designs and installations comply with relevant industry standards (IEC, ISA) and safety regulations.
• Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance teams.
• Manage project documentation, including design revisions, test reports, and as-built drawings.

• In-depth knowledge of various industrial communication protocols (e.g., Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet/IP).
• Experience with process automation in sectors such as mining, manufacturing, or utilities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Familiarity with South African safety standards and regulations.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) or Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr. Eng. Tech.) designation is highly valued.
