Role Description and responsibilities

This is a full-time on-site role for a Senior Electrical Engineer located in the Rosebank, Johannesburg Metropolitan Area. The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and managing small (<100kW) to large (>1MW) PV and BESS systems and solutions to comply with local, international and industry standards where applicable. The role involves collaborating closely with other engineering teams and project managers to ensure the timely delivery of proposals, projects and company objectives.

Day-to-day tasks include overseeing various projects from tender or conceptual phase to finish, and duties will include:

• Site surveys of HV & LV switchrooms and rooftop or greenfield sites
• Detailed design of PV and BESS systems in CAD, Helios and other relevant software packages
• Draw, update, and maintain drawings and designs
• Manage multiple complex projects at the same time
• Ensure that designs meet manufacturing, technical and customer requirements
• Ensure that projects are completed within budget and time
• Quality control of designs and on site projects
• Project Programming
• Management of subcontractors and chairing meetings
• Vendor relationships
• Project Performance and liaison with the O&M Department
• C&I client engagement

Required skills and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• Professional Engineering (Pr. Eng) registration is advantageous
• Experience in designing, pricing, financial modeling, installing, project managing, and commissioning PV and BESS HV & LV systems
• Proficiency in detailed designing of switchgear and cabling
• Drafting knowledge in AutoCAD
• Expertly use photovoltaic design programs such as PVSyst and Helios
• A minimum of 5 - 10 years’ experience in the building services and PV field is essential
• Knowledge around the Tendering and Contract documentation of the construction industry advantages.
• Drivers License and own transport a must

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
