Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer for a fully remote position supporting Durban and beyond. You will translate client requirements into robust electrical designs, using AutoCAD and SolidWorks Electrical, and collaborate with a virtual team to ensure compliance with SANS/IEC standards.

The role emphasizes independent work, detailed calculations, BOM creation, and support through fabrication, installation, and commissioning phases across KwaZulu-Natal clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 6+ years hands-on experience in electrical system design.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD/SolidWorks Electrical and simulation tools.
• Solid understanding of electrical codes (SANS, IEC) and safety standards.
• Experience with PLCs, VFDs, and industrial automation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed electrical designs including single-line diagrams, panel layouts, wiring schematics and control logic.
• Perform load analysis, fault current studies, and voltage drop calculations.
• Select components and materials to meet project specs and standards.
• Collaborate remotely with project managers, clients and other engineers via virtual tools.
• Prepare BOMs, specifications and design docs for procurement and construction.
• Support manufacturing, installation and commissioning with design reviews and technical guidance.

Key Responsibilities
