Job summary

Communicate Finance is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to lead the design of electrical systems, wiring harnesses, and 3D/NX-driven layouts. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integration, compliance, and timely delivery.

You should have 7+ years in electrical design, strong CAD skills (NX preferred), and experience with Teamcenter PDM, plus solid project management and stakeholder engagement capabilities. The role is based in Midrand, South Africa.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in electrical design.
• NX CAD experience preferred; NX advantageous.
• Experience with wiring harness and electrical system design.
• Familiarity with PDM systems (e.g., Teamcenter).
• Strong project management and organisational skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee electrical system designs, including 3D wiring and 2D schematics.
• Design and manage wiring harnesses using 3D CAD and schematic software.
• Integrate electrical components into overall system architectures.
• Evaluate project scope and manage timelines to ensure successful delivery.
• Prepare and maintain bills of materials and related 3D assemblies.
• Manage product data within PDM systems (e.g. Teamcenter).
• Ensure designs comply with supplier specifications and regulatory standards.
• Optimise designs for cost, manufacturability, installation, and serviceability.
• Lead and participate in concept and design reviews.
• Liaise with suppliers and stakeholders to refine and finalise designs.
• Assess design outputs against customer requirements and engineering standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure integration and alignment.
