Placements24 partners with a leading financial institution in Randburg, Gauteng to hire a Senior Economist who will drive economic analysis and strategic insights for banking and finance. You will build macroeconomic forecast models, publish research, and communicate findings to senior management and external clients, while collaborating with portfolio managers and analysts.

A Master’s or PhD in Economics with 7+ years of experience is required, along with strong econometrics and software

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Economics or related quantitative field.
• 7+ years of experience as an economist, preferably in finance or research.
• Strong econometrics, statistical analysis, and modeling software expertise (EViews, Stata, R).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to explain complex concepts clearly.
• Proven ability to conduct independent research and publish high-quality economic work.
• Deep understanding of financial markets within Banking & Finance in Gauteng.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth economic research and analysis on local, national, and global trends.
• Develop and maintain macroeconomic forecasting models for indicators such as GDP, inflation, and interest rates.
• Prepare regular economic reports, commentary, and presentations for internal and external audiences.
• Advise senior management on economic conditions and their potential impact on operations and investments.
• Collaborate with portfolio managers and analysts to integrate economic insights into investment decisions.
• Represent the company at economic forums, conferences, and industry events in Randburg and beyond.
