About the Role

Our client, a respected operator in the Energy sector, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Drilling Engineer with expertise in Complex Well Design to join their operations team in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, ZA . This on-site position is critical for the planning, execution, and optimization of challenging drilling operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing safe, efficient, and cost-effective well programs, managing drilling risks, and ensuring adherence to the highest industry standards. You will work closely with various disciplines, including geologists, reservoir engineers, and HSE professionals, to achieve operational excellence. This role requires hands‑on experience and a deep understanding of drilling technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Proficiency with drilling simulation software (e.g., WellPlan, StressCheck, Compass, Resource).
• Strong understanding of drilling hydraulics, wellbore mechanics, and formation evaluation.
• Experience with managed pressure drilling (MPD) or equivalent advanced drilling techniques is highly desirable.
• Excellent problem‑solving, decision‑making, and risk management skills.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
