Introduction

Role Overview

The role is a critical member of the Senior Leadership Group, responsible for creating a holistic university experience for students by providing support, resources, and opportunities that foster their personal and academic success.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy aligned with the University's Strategic Plan.
  2. Provide leadership over policies and processes to enhance student success, engagement, and satisfaction.
  3. Implement initiatives supporting diverse student populations, fostering an inclusive campus culture, and ensuring equitable access to resources.
  4. Promote student leadership to international standards by creating a learning environment that develops responsible and accountable leaders.
  5. Enhance strategies for world-class on and off-campus accommodation, including monitoring and administration of Privately Owned Student Accommodation (POSA).
  6. Support student governance bodies through training and development.
  7. Develop policies and activities promoting student life, health, wellness, ethics, and governance.
  8. Proactively address student needs and prevent crises through targeted programs.
  9. Ensure effective governance, administrative, and system functions within the division.
  10. Collaborate with legal and compliance offices to adhere to relevant laws and regulations.
  11. Manage division's finances and resources responsibly.
  12. Build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including international partners.
  13. Implement staff development initiatives focused on retention and recruitment.
Minimum Requirements
  • Substantive academic stature.
  • Minimum of five years' proven experience in university management, especially student affairs.
  • Deep understanding of national and international debates on student affairs, ethics, judicial services, and governance.
  • Knowledge of the Higher Education sector nationally and internationally.
  • Ability to maintain and strengthen stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience in external fundraising.
  • Effective management of finances and resources.
  • Leadership experience at all academic levels, including staff recruitment and development.
  • Strategic and operational leadership capabilities.
  • Strong resource, strategic, and people management skills, with resilience under pressure.
Terms of Appointment

This is a 5-year contract position, subject to a 12-month probation period, with an executive remuneration package. The appointment may be renewed based on performance. The retirement age is typically 65. Candidates should be able to serve a full 5-year term.
