Job summary

Tiger Brands is seeking a Senior Desktop Engineer to own end-user workspace services at a Randburg site. You will deliver 2nd/3rd line desktop support, manage workstation builds, IMACD activities and on-site operational tasks including printing, meeting rooms, and CMDB accuracy, while working closely with Network Engineers.

The role requires hands-on expertise in Windows environments, endpoint management, and connectivity support.

Qualifications

• Relevant IT Diploma or Degree is preferred.
• Microsoft certifications related to desktop/endpoint management are desirable.
• ITIL Foundation certification is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide 2nd/3rd line escalation for desktop and endpoint incidents.
• Maintain devices to standard configurations after incidents or rebuilds.
• Support OS upgrades, drivers, firmware, and endpoint compliance.
• Perform preventive maintenance to reduce repeat incidents.
• Execute workstation installs/replacements and data transfers.
• Deliver IMACD activities and manage data migrations.
• Provide 1st line printing support and AV/VC support where needed.
• Support connectivity (Wi-Fi, VPN) and VDI from an endpoint perspective.
• Ensure endpoint protection is active during builds and imaging.
• Update CMDB and site documentation during changes and incidents.
• Assist Network Engineers with onsite troubleshooting and equipment replacement.

The Senior Desktop Engineer is a senior, hands‑on EUC specialist responsible for the stability, standardisation, and on‑site delivery of end‑user workspace services. The role provides advanced 2nd/3rd line desktop support, executes workstation build and IMACD activities, and delivers site‑level operational support including printing, meeting rooms, endpoint compliance, and CMDB accuracy. It also performs network and server room upkeep and provides local hands‑and‑feet support to Network Engineers to accelerate fault resolution and device replacement.

What You Will Do

Desktop & Endpoint Engineering

• Act as 2nd/3rd line escalation for desktop and endpoint incidents and requests.
• Maintain and restore devices to the approved standard configuration following incidents or rebuilds.
• Support OS upgrades, OEM driver and firmware updates, and endpoint compliance activities.
• Perform preventative maintenance during support interactions and reduce repeat incidents.

Workstation Build, IMACD & Data Handling

• Execute physical and logical workstation installs and replacements.
• Deliver IMACD activities (install, move, add, change, decommission) as part of BAU.
• Perform user data transfers during device replacement and rebuilds.
• Enforce data storage policy and correct network drive mappings before risky activities.

Printing, Meeting Rooms & Peripheral Support

• Provide 1st line printing support (including label printers and MFP user support) and coordinate vendor escalations.
• Deliver 1st line meeting room and AV/VC support, including proactive checks where required.
• Provide first line support for handheld scanning devices where deployed.

Connectivity, Mobility & VDI (Endpoint Side)

• Support workstation related connectivity (Wi Fi, VPN, broadband up to wall socket level).
• Support VDI / thin client environments from an endpoint perspective.

Endpoint Security – Hands & Feet

• Ensure endpoint protection is present during builds, reinstalls, and imaging.
• Provide hands and feet support for workstation security issues (AV failures, encryption, WMI repair) where remote remediation fails.

CMDB & Documentation

• Update CMDB records during commissioning, decommissioning, and incident restoration (including required scan inputs).
• Maintain site level documentation and runbooks to support auditability and repeatability.

Network & Server Room Support

• Perform basic upkeep and inspections of network and server rooms at assigned sites.
• Provide local hands and feet support to Network Engineers, including:
• On site troubleshooting assistance
• Replacement of switches, routers, and Wi Fi devices
• Physical checks, racking, patching, and post swap validation

Experience And Qualifications

• Relevant IT Diploma or Degree (preferred).

• Microsoft (MD‑102, MS‑102, legacy MCSA)
