Job description

The IIE Varsity College is an educational brand of The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE).

The IIE Varsity College National Office has a vacancy for a Senior Designer (Part-Time).

Job Purpose

A strategic senior designer able to lead and oversee the creation of visual executions and design projects, mentor midweight designers, ensure brand consistency, and develop innovative solutions for the brand, with strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.

Key Performance Areas
  1. Leading Design Projects: Lead and oversee all design elements from concept to final delivery. Develop and implement design strategies, while managing multiple projects simultaneously. Involvement in the full concept process, from prototype stages through to production.
  2. Team Leadership: Provide guidance and support to the studio designers to assist with their professional growth and development. Review the work of the studio designers and provide constructive feedback to ensure high-quality design deliverables that meet the brief requirements. Foster a collaborative and creative team environment together with the Design Studio Team Leader.
  3. Strategic Thinking: Apply critical thinking, problem solving, and creative thinking on all design projects and briefs. Communicate proposed design concepts and executions. Ensure the design studio team explores various conceptual approaches to meet the design brief. Deliver both strong ideas and a high level of craftsmanship across all design elements.
  4. Maintaining Brand Consistency: Ensure all creative outputs from the design studio align with the brand's visual direction, campaigning, and key messaging.
  5. Creative Review: Create visually appealing, user-centric design outputs for various channels/platforms. Present designs for review to relevant stakeholders. Ensure all design principles are applied across all creative outputs. Review and proofread all design outputs produced by the studio team. Ensure all creative executions adhere to the IIE policy and relevant feedback has been incorporated.
  6. Project Management: Manage numerous projects and briefs within agreed timelines, demonstrating planning, scheduling, multitasking, and overseeing progress. Ensure all jobs are completed on time and according to brief.
  7. Remaining Current: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, design software, and emerging technologies. Conduct ongoing research for mood boards, scamps, and conceptualization. Bring innovative ideas to meet business challenges creatively. Maintain understanding of target audience and market trends to create resonant designs. Keep abreast of competitors' creative executions.
Minimum Qualification Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Visual Communication, Graphic Design, or Communication Design with a strong portfolio showcasing diverse design projects across multiple mediums.

Minimum Work Experience Requirements

At least 5+ years of senior designer experience at a brand level or within an agency. Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and MS Office. Strong understanding of graphic design principles, styles, and layout techniques. Creative thinker with excellent idea generation and visualization skills. Effective verbal, visual, and written communication. Attention to detail and organized workflow. Knowledge of print processes and artwork setup. Knowledge of animation and digital design is advantageous.

Working Conditions

This is an Independent Contractor Part-Time role.
