Duties & Responsibilities

As a Senior Mechanical Vehicle Design Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of mechanical systems and components for vehicles. You will work on a variety of projects from early-stage conceptual designs to detailed engineering and testing. Your expertise in mechanical engineering, vehicle systems, and design tools will play a critical role in delivering high-performance, innovative, and manufacturable vehicle solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the design, analysis, and development of mechanical vehicle systems including drivetrain, suspension, chassis, and body structures.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Electrical Engineers, Software Engineers, and Product Managers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems into the overall vehicle design.
  3. Utilize advanced CAD software (e.g., CATIA and SolidWorks) to create detailed 3D models, assembly drawings, and technical specifications.
  4. Perform finite element analysis (FEA) and other simulation techniques to validate and optimize designs for performance, safety, and durability.
  5. Oversee prototype development and testing phases, working closely with testing teams to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
  6. Lead design reviews, ensuring all mechanical designs are innovative, cost-effective, and manufacturable.
  7. Develop and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including engineering drawings, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and technical reports.
  8. Identify and resolve design challenges and performance issues throughout the product development lifecycle.
  9. Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical leadership to the design team.
  10. Stay updated with industry trends, materials, and technologies to incorporate the best solutions into vehicle designs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • At least 5 years of experience in mechanical design engineering focusing on vehicle systems and components (automotive or related industries).
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) and FEA tools.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle systems including drivetrain, suspension, chassis, and body structures.
  • Experience with design optimization, materials selection, and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality control processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills for tackling complex design challenges.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to lead projects and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience with prototype testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
