JOB TITLE: Senior Design Engineer
LOCATION: Randburg (including regular site visits)
REMUNERATION: R60,000 – R80,000 per month (depending on experience)

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Engineer to lead and oversee engineering projects from concept to completion. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, designing, supervising, and managing engineering tasks, including overseeing both in-house and consulting engineers. This role involves approving calculations, simulations, CAD models, and manufacturing drawings, while ensuring that all projects meet technical, budget, and timeline requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering and project management experience.
• At least 2 years of experience as a lead engineer.
• Proficient in CAD software, particularly SolidWorks.
• Experience with product management systems such as Team Centre.
• Hands-on experience with mining logistics machinery.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Teams, Excel, and Word.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Define project requirements, deliverables, and schedules.
• Develop scopes of work and ensure alignment with project objectives.
• Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
• Ensure that designs meet manufacturing standards, technical requirements, and client expectations.
• Monitor and manage project budgets and timelines.
• Delegate tasks effectively and track progress.
• Lead and manage the engineering team, including engineers and draftsmen.
• Review and approve analytical calculations and empirical simulations.
• Review and approve CAD models and manufacturing drawings.
• Coordinate and communicate with clients throughout project phases.
• Conduct site visits and oversee commissioning of systems or equipment.
• Oversee engineering design and project execution from conception to completion.
• Perform structural analysis and finite element analysis (FEA), especially on chassis designs.
• Ensure engineering standards and best practices are maintained.
