Job summary

Redhill School is seeking an experienced Senior Debtor’s Controller to oversee the finance team's debt collection processes. Job description

Redhill School is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Debtor’s Controller to join the finance team.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Oversee the School’s debt collection process and provide support to the Bookkeeper and Finance Manager;
  • Manage the Debtors administrative team and ensure smooth functioning of the department;
  • Monthly reporting to Bookkeeper and Finance Manager;
  • Analysis of Debtors aging and maintaining spreadsheets
  • Process and monitor monthly accounting entries;
  • Authorise all ancillary expenses charged to parent accounts;
  • Ensure that monthly statements are prepared and distributed accurately and timeously;
  • Ensure effective management and reconciliation of all debtor accounts;
  • Monitor short-and long-term payment arrangements;
  • Primary contact for parents for all queries
  • Approve and monitor short-and long-term payment arrangements;
  • Meet with parents regarding outstanding accounts and communicate fee-related policies;
  • Liaise with attorneys on bad debt accounts and legal action where applicable;
  • Comply with POPIA for all communication with debtors and processing of their information;
  • Comply with specific debtors’ rulings for school debtors in Gauteng and remain current with these requirements;
  • Provide administrative support to the Finance team;
  • Assist with day-to-day tasks within the debtors function;
  • Daily reconciliation of bank; and
  • Section 18A submissions

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous work experience as a Debtor’s Controller;
  • School experience will be an advantage;
  • Experience with SAGE 300, Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • Good understanding of the legal complexities of school debtors;
  • Proficient in Accounting and Office software;
  • Ability to reconcile complex debtors’ accounts, including foreign receipts;
  • Ability to deal with problematic debtors;
  • A can-do attitude who takes responsibility for the role;
  • Strong ability to multi-task;
  • Deadline Driven; and
  • Ability to work efficiently
