Job description

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Co-conceptualise, prioritise, design, plan, and adaptively manage data projects.
2. Proactively and collaboratively identify opportunities and/or improvements involving data.
3. Co-develop and pursue strategies and tactics to acquire, clean, analyse, and interpret data in collaboration with other functional teams.
4. Translate, communicate, and enable conversations about sophisticated data concepts into accessible language.
5. Conduct and sustain high-quality data analyses, analytics, modelling, and algorithms.
6. Perform exploratory data analyses to identify patterns, relationships, and anomalies.
7. Develop, validate, and maintain advanced data models (including predictive models) and algorithms.
8. Use analyses and models to identify, generate, or test assumptions and inferences.
9. Apply machine learning techniques for predictive modelling, classification, and clustering.
10. Deliver high-quality, professional data solutions proactively and consistently.
11. Ensure solutions are affordable, sustainable, and delivered on time.
12. Accurately estimate work and ensure code and delivery meet quality assurance standards.
13. Stay updated with industry practices, developments, and trends.
14. Identify and complete relevant training and certifications.

Desired Experience & Qualifications

1. Minimum 5 years of experience in a data science role, including at least 2 years in a senior position.
2. Proven track record of managing and delivering data-driven projects.
3. Master's degree or higher in data science, statistics, computer science, or related field.
4. Expertise in quantitative analytics, statistical analyses, modelling (including forecasting and predictive analytics), multivariate testing, and optimisation algorithms.
5. Strong experience building models collaboratively.
6. Proficiency in programming languages and tools such as Python, R, SQL.
7. Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries for AI features.
8. Fluency in an African language is advantageous.

Package & Remuneration

R59 - R85 CTC per month plus bonus (negotiable based on experience).
