Job summary

Acuity Consultants in Cape Town (Hybrid) is seeking a Senior Data Scientist who can take models into production and demonstrate their commercial value. The role is based in CAPE TOWN and offers a salary of R1.2m – R1.5m per year.

You will work with the Head of Data Engineering and a team of data engineers to deploy, monitor and refine ML models across the business, influencing decisions in credit, product and operations.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years' experience in data science, ML or advanced analytics.
• Hands-on experience deploying ML models to production.
• Experience monitoring live models and addressing drift.
• At least 3 years' commercial Python and SQL experience.
• Strong software engineering practices (version control, testing, code reviews).
• Ability to translate business problems into analytical solutions.
• Experience with Azure, Snowflake, dbt, MLflow, CI/CD, Docker is advantageous.
• Experience in financial services/FinTech is relevant.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end ML lifecycle from problem framing to deployment and monitoring.
• Collaborate with data engineers and stakeholders to deliver production-ready models.
• Monitor model performance and address degradation or drift.
• Translate business needs into analytical solutions that drive commercial value.
