Job summary

Indsafri in Johannesburg seeks a Senior Data Scientist (ML Engineer) to take AI/ML solutions from concept and prototyping through to production. You will build scalable AI capabilities that deliver measurable business value.

You will design and implement production-grade ML pipelines, generative AI apps, and MLOps practices, collaborating with data and software engineers to ship robust AI services at scale.

Qualifications

• Hands-on data science and ML role from concept to production.
• Experience building production-grade ML pipelines, models, APIs.
• Experience with Generative AI and LLM-based applications.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype and develop advanced Machine Learning and AI solutions.
• Build, deploy, scale and support ML, AI and GenAI solutions in production.
• Develop production-grade ML pipelines, models, APIs and AI services.
• Develop Generative AI and LLM-based applications, including RAG solutions and AI agents.
• Implement MLOps practices covering model deployment, versioning, monitoring and lifecycle management.
• Build scalable AI/ML platforms and services using cloud and modern engineering practices.
• Work closely with Data Engineers, Software Engineers, Architects, Product Owners and business stakeholders.
• Continuously improve the accuracy, performance, scalability and cost-effectiveness of AI solutions.

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist (ML Engineer) to join a team focused on building and operationalising next-generation Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Generative AI solutions.

This is a hands-on engineering-focused Data Science role where you will take AI/ML solutions from concept and prototyping through to production, building scalable services, applications and intelligent AI capabilities that deliver measurable business value.

Key Responsibilities
