Job description

As a data scientist on our team, you will work on new product development in a small team environment, writing production code in both run-time and build-time environments. You will help propose and build data-driven solutions for high-value customer problems by discovering, extracting, and modeling knowledge from large-scale natural language datasets. You will prototype new ideas, collaborating with other data scientists, product designers, data engineers, front-end developers, and expert legal data annotators. You will gain experience working in a start-up culture with the resources of an established company.

Responsibilities

1. Evaluate and maintain our data assets and training/evaluation datasets.
2. Develop and implement NLP-based information extraction solutions.
3. Propose and analyze trade-offs of various algorithmic solutions.
4. Collaborate with technical team members to finalize requirements.
5. Translate product requirements into software designs, working closely with development team members.

Preferred Qualifications

• Masters Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, or related fields.
• 3+ years of relevant work experience.

Data Science and NLP Skills

• Formal training in machine learning, dimensionality reduction, clustering, embeddings, and sequence classification algorithms.
• Practical experience with NLP methods and libraries such as spaCy, word2vec, TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, Flair, BERT, large language models, and prompt engineering.

Technical Skills

• Strong Python, Scala, or Java programming skills.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Understanding of data modeling principles and complex data models.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as Postgres, Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or Neptune.
• Knowledge of distributed computing systems like Spark or Ray (highly preferred).
• Experience with API development, containerization, and ML deployment (highly preferred).

Additional Preferences

• Interest in ML Ops / AI Ops.
