Job description

As a data scientist on our team, you will work on new product development in a small team environment, writing production code in both run-time and build-time environments. You will help propose and build data-driven solutions for high-value customer problems by discovering, extracting, and modeling knowledge from large-scale natural language datasets. You will prototype new ideas, collaborating with other data scientists, product designers, data engineers, front-end developers, and a team of expert legal data annotators. You will gain experience working in a start-up culture with large datasets and extensive resources of an established company.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and maintain our data assets and training/evaluation datasets.
• Develop and implement NLP-based information extraction solutions.
• Propose and analyze trade-offs of various algorithmic solutions.
• Collaborate with technical team members to finalize requirements.
• Translate product requirements into software designs and implement development best practices, including code reviews.

Preferred Qualifications

• Masters Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, or related fields.

Experience

• 3+ years of relevant work experience.

Data Science and NLP Skills

• Formal training in machine learning, dimensionality reduction, clustering, embeddings, sequence classification algorithms.
• Practical experience with NLP methods and libraries such as spaCy, word2vec, TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, Flair, BERT, large language models, and prompt engineering.

Technical Skills

• Strong programming skills in Python, Scala, or Java.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, Azure.
• Understanding of data modeling principles and complex data models.
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases such as Postgres, Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, AWS Neptune.
• Experience with distributed computing systems like Spark or Ray is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of API development, containerization, and ML deployment is highly desirable.

Preferred

• Interest in ML Ops / AI Ops is highly preferred.
