Role: Senior Data Scientist

Location: JHB East

Work Model: Hybrid - 3 days on-site

Remuneration: R900k - R1,1Mil p.a.

Are you ready to lead high-impact data science initiatives that solve real-world problems?

We're looking for a Senior Data Scientistfor an established online marketplace platform. In this role you will be entrusted with running your own end-to-end data science initiatives, from ideation and scoping through to delivery and impact measurement. These projects will include data engineering, analytics and science.

What You'll Be Doing:

Data Engineering

Build and deploy machine learning models for predictive analytics, NLP, and time-series forecasting.

Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA), A/B testing, and model validation to uncover insights and optimize performance.

Collaborate with product, technology, and strategy teams to embed intelligent solutions into key business processes.

Lead analytics projects from design to execution, ensuring alignment with business goals and measurable outcomes.

Optimize cloud-based analytics costs and improve the efficiency of big data workflows and pipelines. (GCP)

What You Bring:

5+ years of experience in data science and machine learning with a proven track record of delivery.

Expertise in Python or R, SQL, and data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.

Experience with big data tools and cloud platforms (e.g. BigQuery, Spark, AWS, GCP, or Azure).

Solid understanding of statistical modeling, experimental design, and data integrity principles.

Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical findings into actionable insights.

A Bachelors or higher degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.
