Duties & Responsibilities

About: Assist the Data Science and Analytics team in developing and implementing data-driven monitoring, measurement, insights, and decision support. The role of the Data Scientist involves offering insights, optimizing decision-making with data science, and developing automated predictive and prescriptive analytics solutions to support various business operations and healthcare challenges.

The position requires participation in the entire data science development process, including understanding business needs, defining problems, data cleaning and feature engineering, modeling and simulation, hypothesis testing, machine learning model training, refinement, testing, deployment, and tracking results.

Job Responsibilities / KPAs
  • Determine and evaluate cutting-edge data science methods for predictive analytics products.
  • Research data science trends, especially in healthcare applications.
  • Engage business stakeholders during the discovery phase to identify opportunities, gather requirements, and discuss modeling outcomes.
  • Collaborate with industry stakeholders to develop solutions for key business issues and create new business plans.
  • Create conceptual models or designs to meet corporate needs.
  • Work with subject matter experts to identify relevant data sources and understand business requirements to ensure appropriate model deployment.
  • Review and update all data science-related policies.
  • Present findings, trends, and patterns in complex datasets clearly and concisely, supporting recommendations with visuals and discussions.
  • Provide management with succinct reports including relevant visuals and insights.
Role Requirements
  • Degree (Honours, Masters, or PhD) in Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields.
  • Relevant data science certifications (Python, Microsoft, AWS, Hadoop, big data, machine learning, cloud infrastructure).
  • Minimum of 5-6 years' experience in data science projects.
  • Experience with Python (including libraries like Numpy, Pandas, Matplotlib, SciPy) and working in Jupyter notebooks.
  • Proficiency with SQL and handling large-scale datasets.
  • Knowledge and practical experience applying machine learning techniques.
  • Experience working in agile teams and operationalizing data science solutions.
  • Experience in high-scale production environments is critical.
Salary

R55,000 - R66,000 per month plus benefits including fully remote work, pension, and medical aid.
