Job summary

IQ Business Group is seeking a Senior Data Engineer for a 12-month contract in Cape Town. You will design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and cloud-native platforms, with a focus on Snowflake architecture, dbt transformations, and governance.

The role is hybrid (3 days on-site, 2 days WFH) and involves collaborating with analytics, product, and data science teams. You should bring 5+ years in data engineering, strong Snowflake and dbt experience, SQL and Python proficiency, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years as a Data Engineer or similar data-focused role.
• Strong Snowflake design and administration skills.
• Proficient in SQL and Python; Git for version control.
• Experience with cloud data pipelines and dbt.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimise scalable data pipelines.
• Architect Snowflake environments with governance.
• Develop dbt models with modular, tests, and lineage.
• Build ingestion pipelines using Snowpipe and Tasks.
• Collaborate with analytics and data science teams.
• Automate deployments via Git-driven workflows.
• Maintain docs and share knowledge with the team.
