Job summary

Parvana in Cape Town is seeking a seasoned Data Engineer to design, implement, and optimize SQL Server solutions supporting operational and analytical workloads. Hybrid work model available with strong emphasis on scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and robust data architectures.

You will mentor peers, collaborate with BI teams and stakeholders, and drive data quality and performance improvements across large datasets and high-volume workloads.

Qualifications

• 6+ years hands-on experience in complex query development and optimization.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize complex SQL Server solutions using T-SQL, stored procedures, views and functions.
• Analyze execution plans and optimize performance with indexing, partitioning, and data access strategies.
• Model relational and dimensional data structures for operational and analytical workloads.
• Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines, integrating data from internal and external sources.
• Define coding standards, documentation, and promote best practices in SQL engineering.
• Mentor developers and collaborate with application, BI teams, analysts and stakeholders.
• Support backend data needs and drive improvements in data architecture.
