Job summary

SASSO CONSULTING is seeking a Data Engineer in Cape Town with 3–5 years of hands-on experience. You will design, build and optimise production ETL/ELT pipelines, work with modern data warehouses and modelling techniques, and ensure robust data delivery across systems.

The role emphasises Python/SQL, Airflow/dbt, and cloud data services, with a strong focus on production-grade data engineering and data quality. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years professional experience in Data Engineering, data-focused backend engineering or data architecture.
• Proven experience building, maintaining and troubleshooting production ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Experience with data warehouses, data modelling and production data environments.
• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, maintain and optimise scalable ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Monitor production pipelines, handle errors and root-cause analysis.
• Work with data warehouses and modelling, including Kimball-style approaches.
• Collaborate across teams to ensure data quality and reliable data delivery.
