Data Engineer / Data Scientist (Senior)

Location: Menlyn, hybrid model

Job Type: Contract (June 2025 – December 2027)

We're seeking a Senior Data Engineer / Data Scientist with deep mathematical expertise and extensive experience solving complex business problems using advanced machine learning models. Your Responsibilities

• Develop and implement analytical algorithms for mixed integer linear programming problems
• Lead large-scale data calculations in production environments
• Optimize and scale machine learning models and frameworks
• Extract actionable insights using advanced statistical, mining, and algorithmic methods
• Drive strategy by identifying new business opportunities through data
• Architect and deploy scalable analytics systems
• Interpret statistical models and integrate findings into complex business processes
• Gather requirements, conduct architectural design, and deliver final data science products
• Support full lifecycle development and deployment of Big Data solutions
• Collaborate across teams to integrate analytics into Big Data clusters
• Work with Hadoop ecosystem components (Spark, Hive, Sqoop, etc.) and configure related infrastructure

What You Bring

Essential Skills:

• Strong foundation in mathematics, analytics, and problem-solving
• Extensive experience in data science and machine learning
• Ability to code in Python and R
• General AWS experience in the Big Data/Data Science context
• Comfort with large-scale parallel computing environments

Advantageous Skills:

• Hands-on experience with Hadoop ecosystem tools: Spark, Hive, Sqoop, Pig, HDFS, Cassandra, etc.
• Working knowledge of data pipelines: ETL, standardisation, and validation models

Required Qualifications/Experience:

• 10+ years in data science roles within fast-paced business settings
• Extensive experience leading teams and driving business impact
• Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Engineering, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling)
• PhD in a related field (preferred but not mandatory)
