Role Summary

As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll design and optimise scalable data infrastructure, ensuring high-performance pipelines that support strategic goals. You'll mentor junior team members, drive best practices, and contribute to key architectural decisions. Your work will empower data teams with robust solutions while shaping the future of our data platforms.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design and implement scalable and secure data architectures.
2. Develop and optimise data pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
3. Ensure data pipelines and databases are optimised for performance and security.
4. Work closely with analysts and data scientists to ensure data accessibility.
5. Develop and enforce best practices for data quality, security, and compliance.
6. Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve data processes.
7. Mentor and support junior team members.

Minimum Qualifications

1. 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role.
2. Proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala.
3. Strong SQL skills and database optimisation techniques.
4. Experience with data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
5. Familiarity with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, etc.).
6. Knowledge of cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
7. Experience with ETL tools and frameworks (e.g., Apache Kafka, Airflow).
8. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Bonus Skills

1. Experience in retail or consumer analytics.
2. Knowledge of machine learning or predictive modelling.
3. Proficiency in Python or R.
4. Familiarity with big data tools (Hadoop, Spark).
5. Relevant data analytics or data science certifications.
