Amazon Data Services South Africa (Pty) Ltd in Cape Town seeks a Data Center Engineering Operations Cluster Manager to lead a large facilities operations organization and own data center infrastructure.

The role requires proven senior leadership, experience managing area and facility managers, and a strategic approach to operating mission-critical data centers with a focus on safety, reliability, and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
• Experience hiring, developing, and managing high-performing technical teams

Responsibilities

• Hiring, managing, and developing the operations management team, comprising facility managers, chief engineers and engineering operations technicians
• Attainment of organizational performance goals and objectives relating to safety, security, availability, scaling, and efficiency
• Planning and executing the Infrastructure Operations component of new AWS data centre buildings, new colo build-outs, AWS data centre expansions, and colo expansions
• Operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for AWS data centres to include preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and change management
• Vendor management of leased owned and colocation data center services providers to meet or exceed contracted performance SLA’s
• Safety, security, and availability incident response, incident management, and incident resolution
• Continuous improvement of operational processes, procedures, methods, and tools
