A leading data solutions firm in South Africa is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Architect to design and optimize scalable data architectures. The role involves defining data models, leading the development of data warehouses, ensuring data quality and integrity, and mentoring teams. Candidates should possess 8–12+ years of experience in data architecture, strong SQL skills, and hands-on experience with cloud platforms. The position offers a strategic role in shaping data initiatives within the organization.

Qualifications

• 8–12+ years’ experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related fields.
• Strong expertise in data modelling techniques (e.g., Kimball, Inmon).
• Proven experience with data warehousing and big data platforms.
• Advanced SQL skills and experience with ETL/ELT processes.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Experience with tools such as Snowflake, Databricks, Hadoop, or similar.
• Strong understanding of data governance and data security frameworks.
• Experience designing real-time and batch data processing systems.
• Ability to work with large, complex datasets in high-volume environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement enterprise-level data architecture aligned with business strategy.
• Define and maintain data models (conceptual, logical, and physical).
• Lead the development of data warehouses, data lakes, and modern data platforms.
• Establish and enforce data governance, standards, and best practices.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, security, and compliance across systems.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
• Guide and mentor data engineers, analysts, and BI teams.
• Evaluate and implement new data technologies and tools.
• Optimise data pipelines and architecture for performance and cost-efficiency.
• Drive cloud data architecture initiatives (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
