Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field (Honors preferred)

Technical Skills

• SQL (MS SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL): Proficient in writing and optimizing complex queries
• Power BI & Data Visualization: Advanced skills, including DAX, Power Query, and custom visuals
• Python (R is a plus): Proficiency in data manipulation, machine learning, and automation

Experience & Soft Skills

• Over 5 years in data analytics or related roles within supply chain environments
• Experience with large datasets from ERP, WMS, TMS, FMS systems
• Strong communication, attention to detail, results-driven, innovative thinking, time management, analytical skills

Additional Skills

• Business requirements analysis, data engineering & ETL, knowledge of warehouse and transport systems
• Preferred: Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud), supply chain certifications (e.g., APICS)

Role Purpose

The Senior Data Scientist/Analyst will analyze large datasets to improve service and operational efficiency, develop models for demand forecasting, and support decision-making processes within the Solutions FMS Team in Johannesburg.

Responsibilities

• Data analysis, modeling, and visualization to uncover trends and inefficiencies
• Develop predictive and prescriptive analytics models
• Create dashboards and reports for real-time monitoring
• Identify operational bottlenecks and propose data-driven solutions
• Ensure data quality and collaborate across departments
• Automate data pipelines and workflows
• Support capacity planning and stay updated on industry trends
• Communicate insights effectively to stakeholders
