Overview

Our client is seeking a skilled and passionate Senior Data Analyst to join their team. The role involves delivering data-driven products and insights to internal and external stakeholders through designing, developing, testing, and presenting data products, models, and insights. The analyst will work closely with the data engineering team and business development, while also strategizing with and presenting solutions to higher management and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

1. Data Processing and Data Quality

• Source relevant data from various databases, models, and stakeholders (internal and external). Ensure data integrity during collection, analysis, and interpretation. Adhere to relevant business rules and SOPs. Collect data as prescribed and implement automated data collection methods. Perform ETL processes on large-scale data in Azure. Clean and preprocess data to enhance quality. Aggregate data to meet business requirements. Export data in various formats and implement data validation and quality control.

Dashboard Development and Presentation

• Build interactive PowerBI dashboards tailored to business needs. Synthesize business intelligence and trend data to support recommendations, forecasting, and projections. Present insights clearly to stakeholders. Translate data into actionable information and provide guidance. Follow up with stakeholders to ensure needs are met.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Requirements

• Engage with stakeholders to understand needs, goals, and strategic objectives. Organize insights into formats like reports and dashboards. Gather data requirements and incorporate feedback. Maintain open communication channels.

Maintenance, Support, and Documentation

• Maintain and optimize data solutions. Collaborate with engineering teams for technical issues. Document processes, methodologies, and best practices. Create and update documentation including requirements, design, and user manuals. Mentor junior team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field (NQF 7).
• Additional Azure certifications are advantageous.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in data analytics or related fields such as data science, engineering, machine learning, or BI development.
• At least 2 years in a senior data analyst role is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Python, DataBricks, PySpark, Azure, SQL, PowerBI, and GIS. Experience with other cloud services is a plus.
• Strong ETL and data aggregation skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and statistical analysis skills.
• Ability to translate business needs into data solutions and communicate findings effectively.
• Effective collaboration and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to high-quality insights.
• Experience in the telematics or automotive industry is a plus.
• Recent experience (last 2 years) with technologies such as Python (Pandas, Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly, Jupyter Notebooks, GeoPandas), DataBricks (PySpark, SQL, NoSQL), PowerBI, and geospatial tools like QGIS.
