Job summary

Mediclinic Welkom seeks a Senior Professional Nurse to support the Unit Manager by ensuring safe patient care and coordinating delivery. The role provides mentorship to new and student nurses and direct clinical duties in a hospital setting.

You will mitigate clinical risks, manage the client experience, support staffing resources, and contribute to cost-effective operations while upholding medical standards and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Professional nurse qualification and registration as required in South Africa.
• Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing if managing a specialist unit (e.g. Perioperative Nursing).
• Minimum 3 years Professional Nurse experience in a hospital and 1 year mentorship experience.

Responsibilities

• Ensure comprehensive and safe patient care by mitigating risks and meeting set clinical quality standards.
• Manage the client experience.
• Ensure optimal supply, retention, and utilisation of staffing resources.
• Empower and build staff competence through continuous assessment and development.
• Assist with the effective management of operational expenses (including stock and capital).
