Job description

A challenging opportunity has become available for an experienced Senior Credit Analyst. The ideal candidate will come from a petrochemical environment. This position is based in Milnerton, Cape Town.

Position Info: Responsibilities
  • Obtain financial statements, credit agency reports, and other pertinent information relating to the customer for comprehensive credit reviews.
  • Sanction and assess business plans of new Retail clients.
  • Perform risk assessment of new and existing customers through assessment and analysis of the credit lifecycle, including quantitative and qualitative evaluation of customers' financial performance, forecasted cash flows, and competitive positioning. Knowledge of corporate credit ratings methodology, inherent micro/macro risks (business acumen), and other relevant information to determine appropriate credit risk (secured/unsecured/ESG factors).
  • Provide outcomes and recommendations, considering customer value proposition in respect of credit risk and profitability, using economic modelling tools within the relevant SLA for Corporate and Retail clients.
  • Manage overall account handling, stakeholder relationships, reporting, compliance, and sanctioning processes.
Qualifications and Experience
  • CA(SA) or equivalent qualification, or more than 10 years of corporate credit experience.
  • Experience in both Corporate Credit (minimum 5 years) and Retail Credit (minimum 5 years).
  • Prior experience with credit management functions as a Sanctioner or Credit Mandate is highly preferred.
  • Experience supervising teams (minimum 5 years) is preferred.
  • Experience in the petrochemical industry is preferred.
  • Fully conversant with IFRS standards (IFRS9) and other regulatory standards related to credit functions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills, and SAP4Hana.
