Placements24 is seeking a Senior Control Systems Engineer to design, implement and support PLC, DCS, SCADA, and HMI projects for industrial clients across South Africa. The role is fully remote, offering a flexible, performance-driven environment and opportunities to work on high-impact automation initiatives.

You will work independently, but collaborate with project teams, document designs, and stay current with industry standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechatronics/Computer Engineering.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in designing, programming, and implementing industrial control systems.
• Proficiency with PLC/DCS/SCADA/HMI platforms.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Design, develop, and implement PLC, DCS, SCADA, and HMI systems for industrial processes.
• Configure and program various control system platforms from leading manufacturers.
• Develop functional design specifications and control narratives.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent industrial automation and process control solutions provider, is seeking a Senior Control Systems Engineer. This fully remote role allows you to leverage your expertise in designing, implementing, and supporting sophisticated control systems for a variety of industrial applications across South Africa. You will work on challenging projects involving PLCs, DCS, SCADA, and HMI systems, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and safety. Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

• Proficiency with multiple PLC programming platforms (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000) and DCS systems.
• Experience with SCADA and HMI software development and configuration.
• Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document designs and procedures clearly.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet project deadlines in a remote setting.
• Experience in the energy or manufacturing sectors is a plus.
