Job summary

Mukona Group in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, is seeking an experienced project manager for geotechnical and piling works. You will manage projects from start to finish with minimal supervision, lead client meetings, and drive safety, budgets and schedules on site.

You will coordinate supervisors, engineers and subcontractors, manage procurement, prepare reports, and mentor junior staff while ensuring strict compliance with legal and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience in civil engineering, construction or geotechnical projects.
• Strong commercial and contractual knowledge.
• Proven leadership and project management skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• CCS estimating software experience will be advantageous.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Valid South African Driver’s Licence.
• Willingness to travel when required.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects from start to completion with minimal supervision.
• Develop and manage project programmes and schedules.
• Lead client meetings and manage client relationships.
• Responsible for budgets, cost control, profitability and claims.
• Lead supervisors, foremen, engineers and subcontractors.
• Ensure legal and safety compliance on site.
• Approve procurement and manage suppliers.
• Prepare management reports, forecasts and progress reports.
• Manage project risks and implement mitigation measures.
• Coach and develop junior staff and graduates.
