Job summary

cquail in Johannesburg is seeking an experienced Contract Manager to lead mining and underground drilling operations, ensuring safe project execution, strong client relationships and workforce leadership on site.

You will balance production, commercial discipline and SHEQ requirements while guiding budgets, resources and multidisciplinary teams to deliver profitable results across contracts.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 plus a relevant diploma or degree in Mining, Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, Business Management or related field.
• 8–10 years of experience in mining, drilling, construction or heavy industrial operations.
• At least 5 years in a management or supervisory capacity.
• Strong commercial and contract-management capability.
• Valid driver’s licence and medical fitness for mining operations; ability to travel and work on operational sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day delivery of drilling / raise-bore contracts and ensure safe, efficient and profitable execution.
• Manage project performance against production, cost, schedule, quality and client-service targets.
• Control budgets, resources, equipment utilisation and operational planning across assigned contracts.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and maintain workforce performance, discipline and development.
• Manage client, contractor, supplier and stakeholder relationships throughout project delivery.
• Support contract administration, commercial performance and resolution of operational or contractual issues.
• Ensure SHEQ, environmental, legal and client requirements are consistently implemented.
• Identify performance gaps and implement continuous-improvement initiatives to improve reliability and productivity.
