Job summary

Two-a-Day Group (Pty) Limited in Grabouw seeks a Senior Software Engineer to own vision and machine learning capabilities for its packhouse operations. You will design systems from camera capture to line action, train and deploy models, and integrate results into Django-based business apps.

This is an applied engineering role, delivering production-scale dashboards and interfaces for staff. The role requires strong Python, ML/vision experience, and deep knowledge of OpenCV, YOLO, and cloud/edge

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent demonstrated experience in Computer Science, Electrical/Mechatronics or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience building and shipping production software, including computer vision or ML.
• Strong Python and Django web application development experience with ORM, migrations, views and templates.
• Hands-on computer vision experience with OpenCV and object detection models such as YOLO.
• Experience training and deploying ML models with TensorFlow or PyTorch, not just inference.
• Strong SQL skills with PostgreSQL and MS SQL Server.
• Solid Linux and Bash scripting for deployment and diagnostics.
• Familiarity with AWS, Docker, CI/CD pipelines and Git.
• Experience designing and deploying edge/embedded vision systems.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end computer vision solutions from camera capture to on-line action.
• Train, validate, deploy and version deep learning models for object detection and defects.
• Develop image processing and feature extraction algorithms using OpenCV.
• Run edge inference on camera and embedded devices with CPU/GPU trade-off management.
• Create and maintain Django web applications for operator dashboards and configuration.
• Develop REST APIs to feed vision results into business systems.
• Integrate vision systems with packhouse equipment and PLCs.
• Lead technical design sessions and mentor developers and students.
