Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Computer Science Teacher for a prestigious Stellenbosch school. Lead curriculum development, teach high school CS topics (Python, Java, data structures, algorithms) and mentor students in coding projects and competitions.

You will design rigorous assessments, integrate modern pedagogies, and collaborate with IT and faculty to advance the school's STEM programs. A PGCE and SA teaching eligibility are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT or related field required.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Teach Computer Science and related subjects to high school students, covering topics such as programming (Python, Java), data structures, algorithms, cybersecurity, and web development.
• Develop and implement a rigorous and engaging Computer Science curriculum, ensuring alignment with international standards and best practices.
• Design and administer assessments, projects, and examinations to evaluate student understanding and progress.
• Integrate emerging technologies and innovative pedagogical approaches into teaching practices.
• Mentor students in programming projects, research, and participation in coding competitions and science fairs.
• Oversee the maintenance and effective utilization of computer labs and specialized software.
• Collaborate with the IT department and other faculty members to support school‑wide technology initiatives.

• Contribute to the development of extracurricular coding clubs and STEM activities.
• Maintain accurate student records and communicate effectively with parents regarding academic progress.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; a Master's degree is advantageous.
• A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE) and relevant teaching experience at the high school level.
• Demonstrated expertise in multiple programming languages and computer science concepts.
• Experience in curriculum development and assessment design for Computer Science.
• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage adolescent learners.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in using educational technology and learning management systems.
• A passion for computer science and a commitment to fostering student interest in STEM fields.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team of dedicated educators.
• Must hold or be eligible for South African Council for Educators (SACE) registration.
