Placements24 is seeking a highly motivated IT & Computer Science Educator to deliver online curriculum to Grades 8-12, working remotely from your location across South Africa and beyond.

You will design engaging lessons on programming, web development, data management and cybersecurity, assess progress, provide feedback, and foster a love of technology in students.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT with teaching qualification (PGCE).
• At least 4 years teaching IT/CS at secondary level, online preferred.
• Proficient in Python, Java, JavaScript and web development.
• Solid understanding of networking, databases and cybersecurity.
• Strong remote teaching and virtual communication skills.
• Experience with LMS platforms (Moodle/Canvas).

Responsibilities

• Deliver online IT/CS instruction for Grades 8–12 via digital platforms.
• Develop and update curriculum, lesson plans, assignments and projects.
• Utilize LMS and digital tools to enable interactive learning.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and innovative IT & Computer Science Educator to join their team, delivering curriculum to Grades 8-12 students. Key Responsibilities

Deliver engaging and comprehensive instruction in IT and Computer Science for Grades 8-12 via online platforms. Develop and update curriculum materials, including lesson plans, assignments, and projects, relevant to the digital age. Utilize various Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital tools to facilitate interactive learning experiences. Assess student understanding and progress through online assignments, quizzes, and practical coding exercises. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students, offering support for their technical development. Foster critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and an ethical understanding of technology use among students. Stay current with advancements in IT, computer science, and online educational methodologies. Collaborate with colleagues and the academic support team to ensure a high standard of remote education.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with a relevant teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE). Minimum of 4 years of experience teaching IT or Computer Science at the secondary school level, preferably in an online environment. Proficiency in multiple programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript) and familiarity with web development technologies. Excellent understanding of core IT concepts, including networking, databases, and cybersecurity principles. Strong virtual communication and presentation skills, with the ability to manage an online classroom effectively. Experience with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Moodle, Canvas) and other online collaboration tools. Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently in a remote setup.
