Placements24 in Mahikeng, North West invites a Senior Computational Chemist to drive discovery and design of novel chemical entities using advanced computational modeling. You will predict properties, optimize structures, and guide synthesis and testing within a collaborative R&D team.

The role requires a PhD in computational/physical chemistry with 5+ years in industry or post-doc experience, plus expertise in QM, molecular modeling, and programming. On-site with relocation support available.

Qualifications

• PhD required with post-doctoral or industry experience preferred.
• Proven expertise in molecular modeling and quantum mechanical calculations.
• Proficiency with computational chemistry tools and cheminformatics.

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply computational chemistry methods (QSAR, docking, MD, DFT) to design and optimize candidate molecules.
• Collaborate with synthetic chemists to guide target molecule synthesis and analysis.
• Prepare technical reports, research summaries, and presentations for project teams and management.
• Mentor and guide junior computational chemists and ensure reproducibility of studies.
