Job summary

CFS Recruitment (Pty) Ltd is seeking an experienced Commercial Lines Underwriter in Johannesburg to handle underwriting, processing new business, amendments, renewals, and compliance with FSCA, POPIA, and Fit & Proper requirements.

The role requires strong technical knowledge, good decision-making, and the ability to maintain high service standards while managing broker and client inquiries within SLA guidelines.

• Strong knowledge of short-term insurance legislation, regulations, and compliance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Receive and finalise instructions from brokers and clients in line with SLA requirements.
• Issue policies according to new business workflow processes.
• Process quotes, new business, amendments, endorsements, cancellations, and client queries.
• Action renewals and corrective actions within required timelines.
• Adhere to all internal and external processes, guidelines, mandates, and SLAs.
• Support client retention through accurate underwriting and strong relationship management.
